An adventurous hiking elopement at a waterfall in North Carolina

If you’re looking for a place to elope in North Carolina that includes a waterfall and scenic views, look no further. This adventurous elopement near Asheville, NC was a doozy and is not recommended for folks who are not used to hiking. This hiking elopement totaled over 4-miles between two locations and it was totally worth it.

We started Maggie & Doug’s elopement day by meeting in the parking lot of the trailhead to the waterfall. After a quick change next to the car and a brief first look we trekked the 2 miles deep into the woods, scrambled over several rocks, and was greeted with one of the best waterfalls in North Carolina. After some epic elopement portraits and cooling off by the water, we drove 45 minutes deeper into the Pisgah National Forest for part two of their elopement day- their sunset ceremony. Another 2-mile hike awaited us, which was mostly uphill, but we made it and the pay-off was incredible. Doug’s brother and cousin (who also officiated), along with the couple’s pup, Nova, joined us for the ceremony hike and we had an entire mountain to ourselves on this Tuesday evening in late April.
